Minecraft is a brilliant Java game coded by Markus "Notch" Persson that you can play in your web browser. At the moment the gameplay is quite freeform and "sandboxy", but it will ultimately have survival elements and multiple game modes. The game world is composed entirely of various styles of blocks ranging from brick and stone to wood and foliage. If you dig underground enough you'll find various types of ores - but beware of water and lava that might flood your way out! Create a hulking castle, or a dungeon deep under the earth, or even a nice relaxing lawn maze. It's like Lego, only you never run out of pieces.

Purely for fun, I thought it'd be nice to try and keep track of some of the more interesting pictures of Minecraft in its early days so that people could look back and go "Wow, it used to look like that?". This website is what I've ended up creating to solve the problem.
The site began as a simple blog page where I updated everything manually. Well, quite frankly, that sucked! The volume of new screenshots that appeared every day was more than I expected, and certainly more than I really had time to sift through. The long-winded method of adding pictures meant that I'd never be able to showcase all the cool stuff that had been made. This made me sad.
Oh, it also meant I had no time to play Minecraft myself... this made me very sad.
So to fix things I bodged together this place. Visitors like your good self can register an account and post your masterpieces of Minecraft art, and after they get approved (by a real human being!), they'll appear online. It's all automatic and at least 278% easier than before! Unfortunately it won't get your washing any cleaner, but hey, it's nice that the internet allows for awesome stuff like this.
